Pilates creator was Joseph Pilates,  born in Germany in 1883. The original name he gave his method was 'Contrology' which was replaced with 'Pilates' after his death in 1967. A Legacy of 34 original exercise which today have been broken down in to hundreds, for rehabilitation, beginner, intermediates and advanced students.   JP arrived in the Uk in 1912 and began working with police force in training, once world war 1 broke out, he then shared is wisdom in camp infirmaries, in rehabilitation. He returned to Germany after this and encountered the world of dance, which took him to New York in 1926 where he opened his studio. JP Principles are Breathing, Concentration, Control, Centring, Precision, and Flowing movements. Of which we use today. Pilates works on alignment, stability, strength, flexibility, range of movement and more, core and pelvic floor focus is used at all times. Helping a variety of the public, from medical, supporting our NHS and GPs, to those who are advance, dancers, martial artists, and even the Olympic team. What will it do for you – developing your body awareness, improving and changing the body’s posture and alignment increasing flexibility and strength. Increase mobility for joints, stability in balance, will improve your core and pelvic floor strength, and so much more. Pilates is excellent for those with injuries, ideal for MS, ME, spinal conditions, or recovery and well-being, for the elderly with arthritis.
